Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 25 April 2026  ·  Governs the sale and use of KUMA Timer

Short version: KUMA Timer is sold "as is" for a one-off £8 (plus VAT where applicable). The code you receive activates one machine at a time — Mac, Windows or Raspberry Pi — and you can move it freely via the deregister portal. You have 14 days to get a full refund if you change your mind, provided the licence hasn't been activated.

1. Who we are

KUMA Timer is developed and sold by PL TECH Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales.
Contact: kuma@pl-tech.co.uk

In these Terms, "we" / "us" / "our" refers to PL TECH Ltd; "you" / "your" refers to the person or entity that downloads or purchases KUMA Timer.

2. What you are buying

KUMA Timer is one application distributed for macOS, Windows and Raspberry Pi, with two feature tiers:

3. Licence grant

When you purchase a Full licence, PL TECH Ltd grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, perpetual licence to install and use KUMA Timer on one (1) machine at a time — Mac, Windows PC or Raspberry Pi — subject to these Terms. The licence is issued as an alphanumeric code; activating it binds the code to the hardware identifier of the machine it was activated on.

You may move the licence between machines and between platforms as often as you like by using the deregister portal. There is no limit on the number of moves, subject to the anti-abuse clause below.

Reverse-engineering, modifying, redistributing or reselling the Full build is not permitted. Sharing your licence code with other people is equivalent to transferring it — only the currently-bound machine can launch the application with Full features unlocked.

4. Price, VAT and payment

The price of a Full licence is £8.00 net. Prices shown on the website and in the application are exclusive of VAT and any other sales tax.

UK customers pay an additional 20% UK VAT at checkout (£8.00 net + £1.60 VAT = £9.60 gross). PL TECH Ltd is VAT-registered in the United Kingdom under number GB508908471 and accounts for this VAT to HM Revenue & Customs.

Customers outside the United Kingdom pay the £8.00 net price as shown — PL TECH Ltd does not collect VAT, sales tax, GST or any equivalent consumption tax at checkout. Buyers are responsible for any import duty, use tax, self-assessment VAT or other local charge that may be due in their own jurisdiction; PL TECH Ltd has no obligation to collect, report or remit such amounts on the buyer's behalf.

Payment is processed by Stripe Payments UK Ltd; card details do not pass through our servers.

Tax compliance statement. PL TECH Ltd is a UK-established, UK VAT-registered trader. VAT due on UK sales is collected at checkout by Stripe Tax and accounted for in our regular VAT returns to HM Revenue & Customs. Our VAT account with HMRC is in good standing. Sales to customers outside the United Kingdom are made on a net basis with no UK VAT charged, treated as supplies outside the scope of UK VAT and declared as such in our VAT returns. We do not collect, hold or remit foreign VAT, sales tax, GST or any other non-UK consumption tax on behalf of foreign tax authorities; any liability for such taxes rests with the buyer in their own jurisdiction. We reserve the right to change this policy (including registering for OSS or any other foreign scheme) at any time, with or without notice, and will update this clause accordingly. Any complaint regarding our UK tax obligations should be directed to HMRC.

After a successful payment you will receive two things:

If your email does not arrive within a few minutes, check spam, then contact kuma@pl-tech.co.uk with the last four digits of your payment card; we can look up your order.

5. Your right to cancel (UK & EU consumer law)

Under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 (and equivalent EU distance-selling rules), you have a statutory right to cancel a digital-goods purchase within 14 days of the order date.

When we can offer a full refund: if you request a cancellation before activating the licence code on any Mac.

When the right to cancel is waived: if you activate the code, you are deemed to have started using the digital content, and under Regulation 37 you waive the cancellation right from that point. This is also stated at checkout.

To cancel, email kuma@pl-tech.co.uk from the address you used at checkout, with the subject "Refund request", within 14 days. Refunds are issued to the original payment method within 14 days of confirmation.

6. Outside the statutory period

After 14 days, refunds are discretionary. We will consider requests in good faith — e.g. if a bug prevents the app from working on your Mac and we cannot fix it within a reasonable time, we will refund you. We are under no obligation to refund because you changed your mind.

7. Deregister and re-activation

Your code binds to one machine at a time. To move to a different machine (or to a reset/reinstall of the same machine):

  1. Open kuma.pl-tech.co.uk/deregister.
  2. Enter your code to see what it is bound to, then click Deregister.
  3. Install KUMA Timer on the new machine and enter the same code.

We do not rate-limit honest movement. However, we reserve the right to block codes that show patterns of concurrent use on multiple machines or automated deregister/re-register behaviour — see §10.

8. Updates

While the paid licence is active, you are entitled to all future updates of KUMA Timer at no extra cost for as long as PL TECH Ltd distributes them. We do not guarantee a particular release cadence or feature set, and we may discontinue the product with reasonable notice.

9. Warranty and liability

KUMA Timer is provided "AS IS". We make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for any particular purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PL TECH Ltd's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with KUMA Timer is limited to the amount you actually paid for the licence (i.e. £8). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (such as for death, personal injury, or fraud).

10. Acceptable use and termination

We may revoke a licence code (marking it "revoked" in our database and preventing the app from starting) in the following cases:

In the rare case of an accidental revocation, email kuma@pl-tech.co.uk and we will investigate and reinstate promptly.

11. Third-party components

KUMA Timer bundles the NDI® SDK runtime library by Vizrt NDI AB, and uses Qt via PyQt6 under the GPL-compatible LGPL licence. The NDI attribution and Qt open-source licence notices are displayed in the About dialogue. Powered by NDI® — ndi.video.

NDI® is a registered trademark of Vizrt NDI AB. PL TECH Ltd is not affiliated with or endorsed by Vizrt NDI AB. For more information about NDI® see ndi.video.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be flagged at the top of this page and noted in the application changelog. Continued use of KUMA Timer after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, save that consumers resident in the EU may also bring proceedings in their Member State of residence.

14. Contact

Any question about these Terms — or your purchase — should be sent to kuma@pl-tech.co.uk. We aim to respond within two business days.
